The League and Planned Parenthood get Warped!

July 30th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in From the Field

Hey guys!  The PA League had an amazing time tabling at the 2008 Van’s Warped Tour with our good friends at Planned Parenthood (as you can see from the photo above)!  We had the opportunity to talk to a lot of amazing young people about the importance of voting and getting the youth voice heard!  Thanks to everyone who came out to visit our table, signed voter pledge cards, bought some of our rad homemade patches or registered to vote - we had an incredible time meeting all of you and can’t wait to see you at the next event!

Students Rally Against Violence!

July 14th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Upcoming Events

Middle school students from all over Pittsburgh have prepared speeches, dances, hip-hop songs, and arts projects against violence in their communities at this public awareness event! Come support the kids! Buses leave for downtown at 12:45 from: Gwen’s Girls in Point Breeze, YMCA in Homewood, Boys & Girls Club in Lawrenceville, and Hill House in the Hill District. The Anti-Violence Youth Voices Rally starts at 1pm in Market Square! See you there!

This is the second year the Mission Discovery Summer Day Camp has put together an Anti-Violence Rally to complete their summer program. The kids all engage in discussion and make art that talks about violence in their communities.  The League will be there to promote civic engagement as a way to fight the spread of violence in our neighborhoods. Please join us in supporting the voices of our youth!

E-Fest Returns

July 9th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Upcoming Events

Each year, high school students in East Liberty put together an environmentally-themed carnival for kids 12 and under to come and learn, do projects, and have fun.  We know we’ve got to start them when they’re young, so we’ll be talking to kids about civic engagement and reigstering their parents to vote.   This year it will taking place at Peabody High School on Saturday, July 12th!  See you there!
