A Sad Farewell to a Great Mayor
The League of Young Voters extends our deepest sympathies to the family of Mayor Bob O’Connor. Mayor O’Connor has served this city long and well, as a business man, an active community member, and an elected official. Even previous to his election as mayor, Mr. O’Connor dedicated his life to making Pittsburgh the best community possible. It is with deep sadness that we mark his passing. “Today is one of the darkest days in the history of this proud city. The loss of our mayor Bob O’Connor is a great blow. No one personified the spirit of this city: humility, hard work and integrity with the same vigor and intensity as our Mayor. On behalf of the League of Young Voters we send our deepest condolences to the O’Connor family in this trying time,” Khari Mosley, Director of the League of Young Voters stated. Mayor O’Connor truly was “everybody’s mayor;” regardless of neighborhood, political party, occupation or age, we all looked to Mayor O’Connor as a true Pittsburgher. Along with our sympathies we extend our gratitude to the O’Connor family for allowing us to know the mayor and be touched by his spirit. His life of service will be forever remembered by the people of this city.
